Sir,

Goods Arrangements.

I am now in a position to give some figures for the various types of walls to connect the end of the Storm Water Drain and Blackhead's Lot.

There are four schemes which I have estimated for, three of these are suitable for laying sea-going vessels alongside and one only for Junks.

They are as follows:

(a). The original scheme for connecting the end of the Storm Water drain with Blackhead's Lot by a deep sea wall in the same line as the present Reclamation and accommodating vessels one of 34 feet draft and about 500 feet long, another of 30 feet draft and 450 feet long and the third of 22 feet draft and also 450 feet long.

(b). The line proposed by the Consulting Engineers being set back from the line of "a" about 150 feet. This wall would have a draft alongside of 30 feet for a length of 450 feet and of 22 feet for a length of 965 feet. In order to get this draft alongside the wall a great deal of dredging would be necessary both alongside the wall and for about 100 feet out from the wall.

(c). A cheaper wall could be built by keeping the wall a little further out and so avoiding the large amount of dredging to allow the vessels to lie alongside.

(d). This scheme consists of keeping the alignment...
